In other news, NetEnt is set to delve deep into virtual reality and take advantage of the potential that technology holds in the iGaming sector. The company announced that it would develop and launch its first real-money VR slot.

NetEnt announced that their first VR game would be a version of the famous Gonzo’s Quest which will mark the onset of their long-term strategy of responding to the growing trend of VR games in the international gambling industry. According to the company, by 2017/2018, the WebVR technology will be fully fledged and will have the ability to support VR-related gameplay even if it is only at a basic level.

In last year’s ICE Totally Gaming show, the Swedish gaming supplier talked about five core concepts it would be focusing on in future. Virtual reality was one of them, and through a free-to-play demo version of its unique Jack and the Beanstalk slot, the company displayed how drastically the new technology could transform the online gambling industry.

NetEnt is expected to demonstrate and showcase a prototype of their Gonzo’s Quest VR game at ICE Totally Gaming this year.

Virtual reality is an area that has attracted many players from different sectors with many of them trying to explore it over the years.  Despite the efforts, nothing was fulfilling until last year when the Oculus and other VR headsets were released. After sensing the ultimate potential in it, it is not surprising that many iGaming developers have now shown unwavering interest in it.
